(1) Using data published by the Turkish Statistical Institute, a summary of Türkiye’s bilateral trade with Cuba, Jamaica and The Bahamas during the first seven months of 2024 is given below:

Cuba:

Exports: US$84,583,270 (first semester: $76,492,954)

Imports: $8,570,567 (first semester: $7,482,252)

Total bilateral trade volume: $93,153,837 / with a surplus of $76,012,703 for Türkiye (first semester: $83,975,206 / with a surplus of $69,010,702)

Jamaica:

Exports: $72,161,873 (first semester: $57,274,357)

Imports: $564,918 (first semester: $547,239)

Total bilateral trade volume: $72,726,791 / with a surplus of $71,596,955 for Türkiye (first semester: $57,821,596/ with a surplus of $56,727,118);

The Bahamas:

Exports: $18,695,222 (first semester: $12,991,146)

Imports: $11,934 (same as first semester)

Total volume: $18,707,156 / with a surplus of $18,683,288 for Türkiye (first semester $13,003,080 / with a surplus of $11,587,166).

(2) In terms of categories of Türkiye’s foreign trade with the three countries in the jurisdictional area of the Turkish Embassy in Havana the total for the first seven months of 2024 is as follows:

Exports: $175,440,365 (first semester: $146,735,457)

Imports: $9,147,419 (first semester: $8,041,425)

Total trade volume: $184,587,784 (first semester: $154,799,882)

Trade balance: surplus of $166,292,946 for Türkiye (first semester: $138,694,032)

(3) Compared to other major trading partners of Türkiye in the Caribbean region, in terms of total trade volume, Cuba and Jamaica maintained their third and fourth positions, respectively, after the Dominican Republic (X/114-M/18, total: $132 million) and Trinidad and Tobago (X/59-M/54, total: $113 million) in the first seven months of the year.

(4) However, when the statistics are analyzed in terms of total Turkish exports, Cuba and Jamaica constitute respectively Türkiye’s second and third export markets after the Dominican Republic.
